I would like to present My
Tantric Journey in five installments.
Each installment will focus on one of the following five bridges that I have crossed on my journey:
The First Bridge
Rebirth
The Second Bridge
Taking a Tantric name
The Third Bridge
Taking Vows
The Fourth Bridge
Becoming a Disciple and Servant
The Fifth Bridge
The Final Cross Over
The following ideals with The First Bridge: Rebirth
The Tantric Journey of Shambala
I view my Tantric Journey as a series of five bridges that are to be crossed
on the path to achieving unity with the Goddess and the Tantric Cosmos.
Prelude to the Journey
First Awakenings
My journey into the Tantric Cosmos has revealed to me that the Goddess and her Tantric Spirits are benevolent beings continually seeking persons to join them in a higher level of reality and become one with the Tantric Cosmos. After my rebirth into Tantra, I realized that the Goddess had been calling me to enter into the Tantric Cosmos. Without realizing it, I was being beckoned by the Goddess since my childhood.
I always found depictions of Hindu deities on in particular the Goddess to be soothing and inspirational.
Being in the natural state always felt normal to me. After a hard day at work, I would discard my clothing and rest in the natural state. The Tantric Atmosphere around me would rejuvenate my body, mind and spirit.
Even being in an intimate relationship with the goddess, whom I love, I continually felt that sex and love making had to be more than just satisfying a carnal desire or biological imperative to reproduce.
I always have been a spiritual and religious person, but there was always a void I could not fill.
The First Bridge
Rebirth
In April 2010, my job and the other pressures of the Outside World were not only making my mind and spirit ill but also my physical being.
My neck, shoulders and back were in excruciating agony.
I decided to get a therapeutic massage. At first I located two registered massage clinics, one of which provided a series of holistic treatments. However something seemed lacking. Without realizing it the Goddess was directing me elsewhere. I saw an ad entitled “Tantric Touch”. It was strangely compelling. I checked the website. I was opened to a new reality and spirituality. Instinctively it seemed to potentially fill a massive void in my life.
After a few hours of contemplation, I dialed 613-878-8179. The reassuring goddess voice of Dakini Bliss answered. Her voice was soft and reassuring. She put me at ease. The Tantric Rritual Massage was scheduled for two days later.
I rang the doorbell. A moment later, Dakini Bliss asked me into Sacred Space of her Sanctuary. Although I had never been in the Sanctuary,
I felt totally comforted and protected by the Tantric Spirits.
At the Dakini’s behest I revealed myself in the natural state.
She anointed my back shoulders and neck with sacred oil and commenced the ritual massage. Dakini Bliss also instructed me to inhale harmony, peace and joy through my nose and exhale discord, conflict and sorrow through my mouth. My pain and stress vanished. I drifted into a Tantric Trance. Time and space seemed to merge and disappear.
I turned over on to my back.
Dakini Bliss realized that the Goddess was calling me to join Her in the Tantric Cosmos. Summoning all her Tantric Energy from her Yoni, Breasts and Ajna, she grasped my lingam and channeled her Divine Energy into each chakra of my body. I could feel the Tantric Energy coursing along my spine and nourishing and transforming every part of my being: physically, mentally and spiritually.
Dakini Bliss seemed both inspired and driven for me to transition from the Outside World to the Tantric Cosmos. Every fibre my being shook as I achieved a full Tantric Organism. Dakini Bliss glowed in the dim light. She looked at me with
a motherly smile and lovingly wiped the perspiration from my body.
She looked like a woman, who had just given birth.
I felt like a totally different being from the one, who had entered the Sanctuary. I had been reborn into the Goddess’ Tantric Cosmos. After leaving the Sanctuary, the earth, trees, sky and all living beings looked different to me. They were all part of the Tantric Cosmos. They did not change. I did. My life had been changed forever.
Dakini Bliss had carried me over the first bridge and I began my journey along the Tantric Path. I honour of my rebirth into Tantric Cosmos, I wrote the following mantra:
Dakini Bliss
Goddess and Mother of My Rebirth
Thank You
Blessings, Bliss and Love
May everyday be Mother’s Day
Future Crossings on My Journey
The Second Bridge
Taking a Tantric name
The Third Bridge
Making Vows
The Fourth Bridge
Becoming a Disciple and Servant
The Fifth Bridge
The Final Cross Over

Selfishness versus Self-Care |
| Published: 155 days ago [ submited by Dakini Bliss ] |
ARE YOU SELFISH? Yes…That’s wonderful! An unfortunate side effect of living in western society is our gross misunderstanding of the concepts of selfishness versus self-care.
As children, we are falsely taught that they are one in the same. The loaded word “selfish” should be struck from our vocabulary. When we brand someone as being selfish, we are asking them to NOT care for themselves over caring for us. Ironically, we are being very selfish in labelling them as being selfish. Calling someone selfish is a blatant form of manipulation. We hope they will stop doing what they want and do what we want instead. Now that’s Selfish…with a capital S!
Yes, self-care is sadly lacking in our culture. Evidently, we don’t know how to do it. We learn to take care of each other, but nobody teaches us how to adequately care for ourselves. We handle basic hygiene well but key issues, (handling intense feelings, financial stability, regulating our biological needs) are mostly foreign concepts. We turn to others, we turn OUTWARD, when such things need attention.
Would it not good make sense for me to become obsessed with my own self-care? Would I not ultimately be so energized and empowered that when I do meet you, I can give my best to you? Should you not need me, we can simply meet and take each other as whole people…minus agendas and manipulation. Self-sufficiency is the ultimate in societal care. Selfishness, in the pursuit of self-care, is the most compassionate thing we can do for each other.

I am always in awe of the sex toy industry when it comes to the holiday season and seeing the latest and greatest toy designs. Two years ago, it was rechargeable toys. Last year, it was waterproof rechargeable toys. Just when you thought it couldn’t get more high tech? BAM! Remote controlled waterproof rechargeable vibrators. Remote controlled motion sensitive vibrators. Waterproof USB charged vibrators. Sound activated USB rechargeable remote controlled vibrators. Well done sex toy industry, I tip my proverbial hat to you.
Let’s check out some cool ones, shall we?
We-Vibe 3

The We-Vibe itself has been around for a few years, but the company continuously updates their toys. The We-Vibe is designed as a “couples toy”, though I like to describe it as a vaginal clip. The smaller end is inserted into the vagina, while the larger end rests on the outer vulva around the clit. The idea is that the smaller end is thing enough to allow a partner to penetrate the vagina while the vibration is going on. Also its rechargeable. Awesome, no?
The original We-Vibe was purple and had two speeds, high and low. Then they updated to the We-Vibe 2 which has a button when you can click through multiple setting and pulsation patterns. And came out with more colors like turquoise and red. Now, the We-Vibe 3 is here, which is not only 100% waterproof, and more powerful, but it also comes with a remote control! Well done We-Vibe.
The Club Vibe 2.0 OhMiBod is known for making toys that vibe to the sound of your iPod and other electronic devices. They are pretty high tech when it comes to sex toys. The Club Vibe 2.0 is, the the We-Vibe 3, an updated version of an existing model. The Club Vibe 1.0 is a little bullet that you slip into your panties that is attached to a battery pack. It has a multiple vibration setting, as well as a sound sensitive setting where it vibrates to the noise around it. The idea is that you can go to the club with this toy on and have a reallllllllly good time near the speakers. The 2.0 version is definitely an upgrade from the tiny bullet. The vibrator is now a remote control, where the receiver slips one part into the front of their undergarments (they do give you one in the box) and the controller has the ability to vibe them from across the room. The design is pretty sexy, with a sleek oval design that hugs the body. Also the controller can change just how sensitive to noise the toy is, which can lead to some pretty fun date nights. Did I mention that it charges using an USB cord?

Lyla, Tiant, and Oden LELO is a high quality toy company that has won my heart over many a times. Their new line of “sense-motion” toys has by far been my favorite of their ideas. These new toys are not only rechargeable and remote controlled, but they designed with “sense-motion” which means that the person with the controller can change the vibrations using the motion of their hands. So, depending on how fast you flick your hand back and forth your partners vibrations will be affected. I imagine a lot of people will be playing sexy tormenting games with this new technology. Currently the line has three toys. The Lyla is a basic egg vibe, which can be used externally or vaginally. The Oden is designed as a cockring, where the vibrator sits at the top of the package. The Tiani takes after the We-Vibe design, where it is meant to be used as a vibrator during insertion.

Duet The Duet is very new. So new, I just got an info session about it today. But I am very exited to see this baby in action, and after holding it in my hand I am definitely saving up for this one.
The Duet is made by Crave, which believe is San Francisco based. Again, so new that I am unfamiliar with the company (sorry! But I love your stuff!) The Duet is an external vibe that is not only waterproof and rechargeable, but it is USB charged and some models actually have memory space on their USBs. What? I can store my porn in this thing? Yup! And let me tell you, this vibe is strong, and super classy looking and even comes with a fancy carrying case. I see a big future for this little guy.

What will they think of next?

Kundalini Shakti & Chakras Kundalini…the Divine Life Force |
| Published: 158 days ago [ submited by Dakini Bliss ] |
Kundalini shakti is flowing through all chakras to create Life
The Physiology of Chakras and the role of Kundalini energy during spiritual development.
No life is possible without kundalini energy because kundalini is nothing else but the cosmic life force coming from God that keeps all beings alive. No awakening of the Kundalini Shakti is possible as it is always flowing to a certain extent. What people often call the awakening of the Kundalini Shakti is a sudden reduction of resistance to its flow caused either by certain “accidents”, special spiritual practices aimed at “awakening” the Kundalini Shakti, or more often just as a result of conscious spiritual development.
The picture above shows the 12 main Chakras and their direction of rotation as well as the flow of the Kundalini Shakti flowing from God through all dimensions of human consciousness and returning to God. All life is fed by God and linked to God for eternity.
The colors of chakras
The colors have nothing to do with the sometimes seen colors of energy of the Chakras. The colors seen are relative and just show that different Chakras have different density and variety of Prana flowing through. Different persons being attuned to each other may see the same energy in the same color. If detuned however may see different colors for the same energy. However even when seeing different colors, they may at least see the same relative changes or abnormalities within a metaphysical body. To quickly explain you the difference between absolute and relative colors here an example from wireless communication. In CW – communication (continuous waves – used for Morse code transmission), we have to different frequencies. Lets assume a CW-transmitter send a carrier frequency of 21 Mc/s, the operator at the receiving station however may not hear this frequency so if he prefers to hear a 1000 Hz tone, he tunes his receiver to 21 MC/s plus or minus 1000 Hz, i.e. either at 20999 or 21001 KCs. Either way he hears a 1000 Hz tone. Someone else listening to the same CW-station at the same time may tune in to the same radio using a different beat frequency in his receiver causing a different tone to appear in his headphone. The sound frequency appearing in the headphone is relative to the adjustment of the receiver and may be changed even if the transmitter sends an absolute signal at a constant frequency. Similar principles may cause different people to see same energy in a different color with their astral eyes. However they may see an absolute change or disorder appearing within a metaphysical body, for example a tumor that has a totally different density and quality of vibration than a healthy metaphysical body or the difference between truthful words and a lye. With other words different colors in the aura show a different vibration or frequency of the energy of that area. The first seven Chakras from bottom to top are commonly known. The proper names are in Sanskrit and are as follows (starting from bottom), the other Chakras are placed within the higher spiritual bodies and have no commonly known denomination on this planet:
Location of chakras
For the location of the 7 main chakras, study the graphic below:
We have many secondary chakras . And near the anatomical location of spleen and liver, we have such secondary chakras which are different from manicura chakra.
| Name of chakra in Sanskrit |

| Muladhara Chakra |

| Svadhisthana Chakra |

| Manipura Chakra |
Solar plexus chakra |
| Anahata Chakra |
Heart Chakra |
| Vishuddha Chakra |
Throat chakra |
| Ajna Chakra |

Crown chakra – Door to God |
All chakras have – along the spinal cord – an opening toward front and opening another toward back of body !
Muladhara Chakra, Svadhisthana Chakra, Manipura Chakra, Anahata Chakra, Vishuddha Chakra, Ajna Chakra, Sahasraram Chakra. This sometimes is also called God’s door. Lets first have a look at the divine life force coming from God. It can be compared to the white light of the sun being transformed into different colors of a rainbow. So is the Kundalini Shakti transformed into a different form of Prana at each Chakras. Prana is the Sanskrit name for the life force, a metaphysical energy beyond the physical body of being. Prana in its different forms is the life creating and sustaining form of energy within any kind of life, be it plants, animals, minerals, humans or purely spiritual beings. Without Prana no life could ever exist. Chakras are acting as some kind of transformers adapting the pure divine life force to the particular needs of each dimension of the metaphysical body of mankind.
Kundalini energy comes from God
The Kundalini energy comes from God and returns to God. The flow of this energy along the great Nadis – also called meridians or energy channels – causes the Chakras to rotate. Each Chakra is rotating in the opposite direction of its immediate neighbor-Chakras. One turning clockwise the next one counterclockwise and so on. The Chakras of a women are rotating the opposite way from male Chakras. A woman and a man facing each other however may be in harmony with each other because facing each others the Chakras are rotating in the same direction relative to each other, creating attraction and harmony – increasing the power of the opposite body.Chakra radiation between male and female are complement polarities, turning on, uplifting and inspiring each other
The energy may flow from male to female and vice versa while at the same time flowing from lower Chakras upwards towards the higher Chakras.
However, the divine creation has planned sexuality in the sense of bipolarity attracting and empowering each other. Sexuality is part of the divine creation.
The awakening of Kundalini Shakti
Removing an obstacle caused by your ego frees kundalini shakti and increases the flow of divine life force
The sudden onset of an increase of energy-flow is often called “awakening” of the Kundalini Shakti. As mentioned earlier, the energy of the Kundalini is continuously flowing to some extent. To properly understand what the cause of a sudden increase of this energy may be, we should first understand what could cause a reduction of energy-flow. Below we shall see some examples of causes to reduce or almost completely stop the flow of Kundalini Shakti for different Chakras from bottom to top – i.e. for the lower 7 Chakras only. Within each point you will find solutions for the most common problems.
Attachments to the physical plane of existence, to persons, goods, money, your home, your country, culture, your physical body, greed, and more.
Become free. Become aware that God’s divine home is beyond the physical plane and in order to get there, you first have to become completely free of any attachments. Have as much as you need for a happy life, but share all your excesses with needy people all around the World. Open your heart and mind to other cultures, races, religions. Travel or change your domicile a few times within your present incarnation to realize the truth, that decent, loving can be found across the globe. Care for your body but be aware of the truth that you are light, your body is only a vehicle for your soul to make experiences and learn lessons on the physical plane. Light is the truth of your being. The innermost core of your soul is divine, conscious light. Your consciousness and awareness is free of your physical body. In fact, within your different spiritual bodies your consciousness and awareness is increasing from level to level.
Strong emotional problems, problems with your father, mother or children. Complete or strong denial / suppression of sexuality or over-emphasis of sexual life. Homosexuality, male and / or female. Trans-Sexuality. Mother and / or father missing during childhood. Sexual disorders may result from a monastic lifestyle in previous incarnations, particularly within Christianity as in religions sexuality has not usually been regarded as sinful.
Reconcile yourself with your sexual nature as being part of the divine will and creation for your learning the basics of the expression of divine love toward others. Heal all emotional wounds left from past and current incarnations by developing divine love toward everyone. Lovingly accept your family as being part of your learning process of becoming an “adult” child of God. Accept full responsibility for your current situation within your family, including your present gender. A soul selects its place to reincarnate according to its Karma. A soul is fully responsible for any Karma. Knowledge to prevent Karma has always been existing. You either accept these rules and follow them or you live the seeds of your thoughts, emotions or actions of your past and learn by suffering. Dissolve the wounds and spiritual blockages suffered from your past in the fire of divine love, by asking God to remove all your past burdens,
Lack of common understanding of your spiritual role in this incarnation. Suppression of free development of the Divinity of your soul and its expression within your personality and all parts thereof, i.e. physical life including your job, family, recreation, your emotions in all aspects of your life, your thoughts including your mental work during job or recreation. Denial of your body or physical existence at all. Denial of your personality in regard size, shape or sexuality of your physical body. Auto aggression toward present body or personality. Committed suicide in previous incarnations. Anger toward self and / or others.
Learn to accept your Karma as the result of your very own choice in the past. Learn the deep spiritual truth of life, the true reason of being on this planet. Accept your present personality as being the best possible manifestation of your divine soul to learn and practice your present spiritual lessons on this planet. Your present personality including your physical body – male or female – shall become a host of the divine within yourself. Allow this divinity to fulfill its purpose, allow God to flow into every cell of your physical body, into every particle of your spiritual body of light. Whatever you are is made by God, and sometimes altered by your own free will according to possibilities created by the divine. Allow your innermost divine love to flow from God through your soul into your personality and your physical body continuously.
Aggression toward any part of the divine creation. Missing reconciliation with others in current or previous incarnations. Hate toward others – humans, animals or other beings. Missing devotion or love for other parts of the divine creation. Missing forgiveness for others in current or previous incarnations. Black magic – i.e. abuse of magic power for personal benefit or detrimental to part of the divine creation. Asthma bronchitis is often if not always caused by severe and long-lasting abuse of magic power detrimental to others – causing a severe restriction of Prana flow and life-force intake to the extent that the person affected may become almost immobile, thus causing him to stop any activity, even mental and / or emotional and to fully concentrate on self-survival, resulting usually in a complete stop of any magic activity. Dental fillings containing mercury – this very often results in severe and long-lasting depression, even if the fillings have been replaced by other materials such as synthetic or gold fillings, as mercury does leave the physical body extremely slowly, without proper measures taken to flush the body from mercury.
Everything and everyone is part of the divine creation. Expand your love toward every single being, human, animal, plant, the entire planet, the entire creation as far as you can see or perceive it. If you exclude a single being from your love, you exclude part of God from your love, thus reducing the flow of love toward yourself and separating yourself from God. Restore and protect the absolute and divine freedom of all beings in the divine creation. Accept other people having the right of being different from your, having a different attitude and opinion, conducting a different lifestyle than you. Each divine being has its own spiritual lessons on earth and elsewhere. Thus, different beings may always behave differently so as to fulfill the purpose of their existence.
Abuse of power, lack of truthfulness toward others and / or self. Dental fillings containing mercury may block this Chakra, denial of Divinity of your self, denial of your soul to completely express its Divinity within all aspects of your life.
A rightful life in honesty and truthfulness to all and with love for all
PRACTICE Loving communication…say what you feel deep inside and do what you feel is divine communication
Practice absolute truthfulness and honesty toward yourself and others in all and any situations of life. Use your speech to express your divine love toward everyone and anyone within the entire creation. Use your speech for the expression of divine love, truth and wisdom. If what you want to say is anything else – learn to be quiet instead. Speak positive words that enforce the divinity of all, restore or protect the absolute freedom of all, restore or support divine health within all. Remove any negations or negative words within your vocabulary. The same applies to all of your emotions and thoughts as well. Emotions and thoughts are even more powerful as they can travel through universes. Strive for absolute truth rather than relative aspects of life. Beyond anything there is always an absolute point of view, an absolute truth – make this absolute point of view to the starting point of your very own consideration of the creation.
Suppression of your intuition. Suppression of your divine truth. Missing expression of your divine love toward the entire creation. Denial or suppression of the existence of metaphysical life.

(The above steps serve to relax and integrate the physical, mental and spiritual apexes of the High Priestess/ Recipient and Disciple/Giver. By the 3rd Phase, they will have achieved Aikya and a single Divine Being state. )
Essential Oil Annointing Phase
1. The High Priestess/Recipient becomes the Goddess incarnate.
2. The High Priestess/ Recipient stands before the Disciple/Giver and recites a Shakti Mantra.
3. The Disciple/Giver anoints the High Priestess/ Recipient with the following essential oils:
Oil of Frankincense to the High Priestess/ Recipient’s hands, first the left, then the right.
Oil of patchouli to her throat, neck, and cheeks, first left then right.
Oil of Frankincense to her breasts, first left then right.
Oil of Orange is smoothed through her hair

The shaft of his lingam
The upper arms: first the right and then left
The inner thighs: first the right and then left
His hands: first the right and then left
His feet: first the right and then left
Second Aikya Phase
1. The Disciple/Giver sits on the floor, back propped up against a pillow for comfort.
2. The High Priestess/ Recipient assumes sitting position between the Disciple/Giver’s legs.
3. The High Priestess/ Recipient’s head and back should be resting against the Disciple/Giver’s chest and abdomen.
4. They synchronize their breathing and recite the chakras in order to maximize the generation of Kundalini energy which accelerates the Aikya and creation of the Divine Being.
5. They recite one of the High Priestess/ Recipient’s favorite mantras together.
Brahma Satra Consciousness Phase
1. To demonstrate the achievement of Aikya and the creation of the Divine Being, the High Priestess/ Recipient and the Disciple/Giver raise their arms reciting the High Priestess/ Recipient’s favorite mantra.
2. The High Priestess/ Recipient gently places the feminine arms of the Divine Being on the legs of the Disciple/Giver.
3. The Disciple/Giver using the masculine arms of the Divine Being begins to gently massage and stimulate the Recipient’s crown, temple’s, 3rd eye, throat, breasts, abdomen, thighs and yoni.
4. The High Priesvess/ Recipient utilizing the all the tantric energies the Divine Being enters the Brahma Satra plane of tantric consciousness and reality. She simply enjoys this state, calling upon the Disciple/Giver to assist in any manner to maintain the Brahma Satra plain of tantric consciousness.
Relaxation Phase
1. After thg High Priestess/ Recipient completes her period at a higher level of tantric conscious, the Disciple/Giver gently holds the Recipient until the Recipient feels the ritual has been completed.
The ritual takes from 30 to 45 minutes and would be followed by the normal honuring the goddess/massage session.

How to perform a Blessing And How Blessings Work… |
| Published: 158 days ago [ submited by Dakini Bliss ] |
The beauty of tantric blessings…If it feels right, try this for the victims of natural disasters, and for any others who may need it. The practice of blessing exists in virtually every spiritual and religious tradition. Divinity is channeled through invocation and bodily gesture towards an object, ideal, or person. Most versions of blessing share a great deal in common.
Basically, to perform a blessing, do the following:
1. First calm your own mind, slowing and deepening your breathing.
2. Then mentally connect to the solid earth beneath you (through the nerves of your feet or, if sitting, your pelvic floor).
3. Then become aware of your heart center (two finger widths above the base of your breastbone), perhaps by tapping it several times lovingly with your left hand.
4. Then become aware of the crown of your head, and all of the majesty of the Universe above it (at the top of the head).
5. Smile to all of these points of your body as if greeting a dear old friend: soles of the feet, pelvic floor, heart center, crown center, palms..
6. Then connect to and mentally or verbally invoke divinity, using your own language, conceptions, or traditions, Connecting to that which is Greater than you and all else, but which Encompasses you and all else as well. Secular or religious, anyone can see himself as part of a greater Whole.
Depending on your religious heritage, your name for this greater Whole may be ‘the One’, or the Universe, or God, or Goddess, the Absolute, the Wuji, the Tao, Christ, Allah, Yaweh, Buddha Nature, Great Spirit, Ma.
7. Ask or intend that you become a suitable channel for the blessing, then as you continue to keep this pure intent, visualize, indicate, or name the objects or recipients of the blessing.
8. Let the blessing flow from the divine through your crown down through your heart center and out through the palms of your hands to the recipients. Visualizing white or gold light above you, flowing into your crown may help.
9. Let the blessing also flow from the earth up to your heart center, and from there out through the palms of your hands toward the recipients (the recipients may be in front of you, or visualized, or named).
10. Keep your awareness rotating slowly among your feet/pelvic floor and crown, and your heart and hands, and the recipients, as the blessing flows…
11. Continue for as long as you feel the flow, and for as long as you can maintain the beneficial intent of being a suitable channel.
You cannot force the flow, as you are only a conduit. Simply ask that the blessing be given, and let it happen. You can always try again later, and repeat hourly or daily.

With practice, you will begin to feel the flow of blessing (divine grace, chi or prana). You will feel as it begins to trickle down, at which point, think thoughts of gratitude, smile if you like, and move about your business.
Do not be attached to the result. Merely be a conduit for what may be.
During the blessing, you may touch the ring finger of your left hand to your heart center palm facing you, and aim the palm of your right hand towards the recipients. Think of the ring finger further activating the compassion in your own heart.
You may name particular blessings (divine solice, security, healing, protection, compassion, love, sustenance…) as you begin and perform the blessing.
This technique works best for those who regularly heal, meditate, or pray, according to their own traditions.
Some religions reserve this technique only for priests. I assure you, it works when used by anyone with compassionate intent and some practice.
You will feel this if you do this daily for one month. It takes only minutes.

Are Mature Women Today’s new sex goddesses? |
| Published: 158 days ago [ submited by Dakini Bliss ] |
In today’s market, women of a certain age are making a comeback. Never before have “older” women had more opportunity to live a life free of the constraints of her mother’s time. A new type of standard is emerging for women everywhere. This woman is 50 and fabulous, a mentor for younger women to learn from and follow. Often called a Cougar, she is named after the sleek, powerful feline of the same name. Her life is not about raising a family or even having a career but rather it is about enjoying herself fully. For this new breed of woman is someone who is self assured, she knows who she is, where she is going and what she wants.
 |
| 54-year-old Sharon Stone is an American actress, film producer, and former fashion model who gained international acclaim for her role in the erotic thriller Basic Instinct. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress and won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama for her performance in Casino. |
For a “femme d’un certain age” is in her prime. She usually has a career or maybe she is even on her second career, She may have been married, or still is, raised her children, and is now living for herself. She may have always been single but is older and wiser with a contagious joie de vivre. She is healthier and looks younger because she loves herself and takes excellent care of her body. Younger men are attracted to her confidence and self awareness. Men of her own age delight in her uncanny ability to meet them in intellect, experience and sexual savvy.
For thousands of years women or “silver foxes” reigned supreme as some of the greatest courtesans and sirens of their day. Age only enhanced their charm and sexual appeal. What did all of these women share? Vitality, huge sexual appetite, wit, intellect, humor and all loved and appreciated men. This old and new phenomenon has become all the rage. These new sex and love goddesses have re-emerged as the Grand Dame, a female who has come into her prime, her fullness and beyond. She is outrageous, unique in her own style, focused, and wise with years of living life. She is both admired and sought after. These women reinvent themselves several times and they out shine the ordinary. Older women have the gift of fascination.
This new vanguard of women may even include you or a friend you know. Clearly, women of a certain age are everywhere.
These women had several things in common. They all continued to live very rich, full lives. They had many interests, successful careers and have been able to sustain their joie de vivre through finding new ways to express themselves both sexually and creatively.
Annie Sprinkle, writer, sex goddess and performance artist says her secret is to always be open to change. Her sexual expression continuously changes decade to decade. In this way of being , she always remains true to herself, keeping herself young and vital her excitement for change. She feels very free in her self expression and grateful to have created a life where she can be authentic in every way. An outrageous performer, she continues to open new doors in how we express ourselves sexually. Annie has also been committed to sexual education and changing how the world perceives prostitution and sex workers around the world. This commitment has given her a purpose, a powerful aphrodisiac.

Patti Taylor, author and sex educator worships at the altar of her life force. She says that helps her remain youthful and full of passion. A Woman can enjoy a full sex life after 50, through expanded orgasms which both heal and body rejuvenate the body. Moreover, this is a way for her to fully display her sex goddess attributes.
Being a sex goddess today has a different meaning that it did in the Golden Era of movies. When sex symbol Marilyn Monroe was at her height of fame, the notion of being dumb, with 36-24-36 measurements was the gold standard. However, the sex goddess image is rapidly changing, even though such images are still readily available in Playboy Magazine.
Older women are changing the norm and providing us with new ways that we ourselves can become sex goddesses. Younger women can have new models of women of power and sexual potency, something they can look forward too as they age.
Take a look at yourself, especially if you are a “middle-aged”woman , and ask yourself the following:
1. What makes me feel passionate and alive?
2. What gives me my joie de vivre?
3. How do I feel about my body?
4. Do I still enjoy a full sex life? If not, how has that impaired my life?
5. What would make me feel like a sex goddess?
6. Do I feel sexy even if I am over 50?
7. Do I take care of myself and if not how can I do that better?
8. What do you think makes a woman of a certain age sexy and in her power?
I invite women of all ages to submit their comments.

Meditations on the Natural State |
| Published: 159 days ago [ submited by Dakini Bliss ] |
A true Tantric Spirit is totally unconstrained by symbolic clothing and at one with the Cosmos.
Our clothes, along with our possessions and accessories, do control our minds.
Clothes are more than just items that protect and keep us warm, they are also symbolic.
They symbolize the society in which we live and those social constraints that we have accepted
Clothes reflect status, wealth and creed, in addition to carrying out their protective functions.
They vary from culture to culture, climate to climate.
When used properly, the senses liberate us from our illusionary selves, allowing us to merge with the Universe.
It is the giving up of oneself COMPLETELY to a higher spiritual ideal.
This ecstatic activity brings us into intimate communion with the Goddess and her spirits.
Simply put, it is to be seen as our true selves and accepted as such in mind, body and spirit.
If we desire an honest answer to the question of ” Who am I?”, we must first stand naked in front of the mirror and be prepared to accept ourselves without reservation.
Being in the natural state is a highly symbolic, deeply spiritual activity used throughout the ages by countless nature religions and earth traditions in their most sacred rites.

TANTRIC GODDESSES |
| Published: 159 days ago [ submited by Dakini Bliss ] |
HONOR the DIVINE…Even if a drop of water is missing, the whole existence will thirst. You pluck a fresh flower, and you have plucked something out of the whole existence. You harm a flower, and you have harmed millions of stars. Everything is interrelated. The whole exists as a whole, as an organic whole. The whole exists not as a mechanical thing …everything is related to everything else. Tantra says yes unconditionally. No other vision of life says yes without any conditions. No disappears from your very being. When NO does not exist, how can you fight? How can you be at war? You simply float, merge and melt. You become ONE. Boundaries cease to exist. No creates the boundary. No is the boundary around you. Whenever you say no, something closes in. Whenever you say yes, your whole being opens.

TANTRIC SEX…Guidelines for a TANTRIC RITUAL |
| Published: 159 days ago [ submited by Dakini Bliss ] |
Both partners should begin by bathing to help calm and relax you both.
Take your time! The man is a god, the woman a goddess, so admire each other’s physical forms and use the bathing ritual to empty your mind of worldy thoughts.
Eat appropriate food – nourishment is VITAL if you are embarking on a long Tantric session and the act of sharing and feeding each other is representative of the bond between partners. Meat, fish and honey are all genital foods in Tantra tradition and the drinking of wine is recommended.
Create a beautiful atmosphere – candles or dim light, especially violet which is believed to stimulate female sex organs (red activates male sex organs) will prepare your sacred space.
Use an oil burner or incense to harmonize your space (a BLEND of Sandalwood, Patchouli, Ylang Ylang is IDEAL).
Anoint each other’s body with oil – again, take your time. Pure essential oils are best (a few drops mixed with a carrier oil such as almond).
For a charged sexual feelings go for Sandalwood, or for a gentler effect try Geranium or Bermagot.
Be comfortable – you can be naked but if you start with some light-weight clothing (especially chiffon and silk coloured violet/pink for women, red for men) you can discard garments as you intensify the ritual. A white sheet laid out on which you massage each other is good, as are silk scarves and feathers used for gentle stroking and caressing.
Keep it slow, the aim is not to waste psychic energy through orgasm but to maintain high state of sexual bliss indefinitely. If you feel yourself engulfed in the mighty urge to orgasm, hold back. Stop until the desire passes if necessary.
The trick is to simultaneously control breathing, mental digressions and seminal ejaculation. This is supposed to allow the semen and ovarian secretions to be absorbed back into the body.
It may seem strange to fight the body’s urge to release, but this has a lot of advantages. Apart from the most fantastic sex you’ve ever experienced, it’s supposed to be the ideal way of achieving physical and spiritual well being and if religion’s your addiction, you may find Tantra brings you closer to your god.
 |
| Tantra suits the intimacy needs of same-sex couples just as well as heterosexual couples. |
TANTRA gives a whole body orgasm, a completely holistic experience. People are drawn to Tantric sex is because there’s a REAL need to connect mind, body and spirit.
Stress – the biggest killer – is in part caused by the disconnection of the head and body and the subsequent tension this causes.
Anything that helps us reconnect us to our bodies will allow us to get more physically fit. The tension between head and body causes illness and problems in our life, including sexual problems.
Depending on how successful your Tantra attempts are, you may even experience your cellular memory, clearing up physical remnants of your past.
It allows you to let go of some of your sexual baggage and any negative associations you may have learnt from parents or society.
Meditative sex can help as part of a holistic approach to health, re-connecting your body to your mind and alleviating symptoms of stress.

Core Components of Neo-Tantra |
| Published: 161 days ago [ submited by Dakini Bliss ] |
The New Age movement of the 60′s and 70′s spawned a number ofsexual/spiritual practices lumped together under “Modern Tantra,” “Neo-Tantra” “Modern Sex Magick” and “New AgeTantra.”
They provide a framework for conscious love and sex that helps
in the stress-filled, crowded, sexually programmed modernworld. Here are the core practices of Neo-Tantra or Modern Tantra. Here are some practices embraced by the “Neo” and “Modern” Tantrics:
1. Eye-gazing (“soul gazing”) between lovers 2. Harmonization of the lovers through synchronized breathing andawareness of the bodies main nerve centres 3. Release of somatic tension via massage, breathing, and the use ofsound (long vocalizations such as “Ahhhhh” while being touched). 4. Emphasis on Male ejaculation control and female multi-orgasmicpotential. 5. Emphasis on sensory stimulation of the whole surface of the body, rather than just the “erogenous” zones. 6. Emphasis on prolonged g-spot orgasm for females, resulting inthe “oceanic” or full-body orgasm. 7. Neo-Tantrists also encourage talk between lovers like “I worship the goddess within you” and “I worship the godwithin you.”
Neo-Tantra offers more orgasmic sex, greater feelings ofconnectedness between lovers, better physical and emotional health.
Smile, breathe right, and keep your tongue up!

Complaints |
| Published: 162 days ago [ submited by Avi Answers ] |
Lately I’ve been having some difficulties with customers at work. It’s possible that I’m having an off week, or extreme coincidence that some of my worst customer interactions have all decided to happen at once. I like to think that it’s the former, and that sometimes even sex workers have bad days.
A woman came shuffling in with four shopping bags. She murmurs and mumbles greetings at me and my co-worker. She hands some of her bags to us to hold behind the counter. As she makes her purchase of a $8 vibe, she fumbles through her bags and shouts at us from across the room. When I ask if she’d like her bags from behind the counter, she looks at me furiously and slams her recent purchase down and demands a refund. When we asked what the matter was, she said that she didn’t like my attitude. She got even more furious that we don’t take returns and yelled a bunch of incoherent things at us. Then she stumbled off.
I was helping a guy with a large purchase. The vibe we were looking at cost over $200, and unfortunately the display model we had of it was defective. He was convinced that I didn’t know anything about the toy I was showing him and proceeded to get angry that the floor model wasn’t working. He came back the next day to complain about my lack of knowledge and the poor customer service.
I hope that this pattern ends

TANTRA IN YOUR DAILY DANCE OF LIFE |
| Published: 163 days ago [ submited by Dakini Bliss ] |
Over the years I have become more adept at tuning into the energy of others. So when I walk into a room full of people that I don’t know, I do my best to just feel into the energy. When I am speaking with someone I do the same. Being attuned to the energy is what being Tantric is all about.
 |
| Tantra has always been identified with sexuality, especially Red Tantra which involves mastering sexual energy. And yet many forms of Tantra are not related to sexuality. |
I create my own blend of what being a Tantrika means. It is a practice of working with my energy body and sometimes this means my sexual energy. But mostly it is my life force or you may also know this as chi. I do this in subtle ways. Sometimes I move my energy working out at the gym. I like to really lose it while I do the Eliptical machine. I put on earphones with awesome music and let go. I lose it, which means I deeply relax into myself. I may shake my head, but I permit myself to let go and move my energy.
Living a more Tantric lifestyle and awakening to one’s true nature is a journey of learning how to be present, living in the moment, remaining as unattached to the ‘how’ and paying attention to the stillness of being that is all pervasive if we just take the time to slow down and truly listen. What you discover is silence and an all-pervasive feeling of stillness that is within you, surrounding you and all of life. This container is the Unified Field you may have read about or the Web of Life.
When I feel agitated or restless, reading or listening to statements of Truth will reconnect me with that Field, the Stillness of Being that I am, and I let go and calm down. I surrender into that stillness and give myself the gift of deep inner relaxation. Then, whatever was causing the agitation simply resolves itself.
Tantra is a moment-to-moment experience of awakening to the present and saying ‘YES!’ to whatever that moment brings you. The art and skill is being willing to say yes and then, as you relax into whatever is arising you may feel more peaceful or at ease. And then some action may come forth.
Reminder…Breathe, breathe and trust the flow rather than resist it, and you will experience how the universe truly loves to support you.

Sat Nam
NOTE about The Mantra Sat Nam
Sat Nam is a mantra commonly used in Kundalini Yoga among its practicioners. It is frequently repeated 3 times at the end of a yoga session. But what is the importance of Sat Nam, what does it mean. The following interpretation for Sat Nam comes from several Kundalini Yoga instructors:
- Truth is my identity
- My identiy is Truth
- My True Self
- Truth is our identity
It has been called the process of naming ones self Truth. It can be used similar to Namaste, (the divine in me aknowledges and pays tribute to the divine in you.) Where the “Truth” is the divine. Being one who likes to get to “Source” info, I decided to do some further research into the nature of Sat Nam. I made an assumption that Sanskrit is a rather root dialect and that “Sat Nam” in Sanskrit would provide supplemental information on the nature of Sat Nam. In the Sanskrit Dictionary are the words, Sat and Nam. Sat
- being
- real
- that which really exists
- the real existent truth
I’ve seen it written that Sat means Be, or more apprpriately Be-ness. Which would be the essence of being. (HPB’s Secret Doctorine) I suspect some careful analysis would find an interesting correlation between Be-ness and emptiness. (For those of Buddhist faith) but onward to Nam.
- To bow
- To submit or subject oneself
And so one is bowing to Truth, to Be-ness the essence of being. And the active interpretation of Sat Nam emerges. Sat Nam

Define your Tantric Path |
| Published: 164 days ago [ submited by Dakini Bliss ] |
 |
Define YOUR path in life. We never know how much time we have left. Trying to cram a list of things into an unknown timeframe is futile. Instead, live life to the fullest on a daily basis. Get the most out of life. |
1. WHO do I love, and what am I doing about it? You never know how much time you have with the people you love. They can go at any time …so can you. And so you must make the most of this time.
If you aren’t spending time with the people you love, change that. If you are holding a grudge against someone, let it go and reconcile. If you’ve done something to hurt a loved one, ask for forgiveness. Drop the pride, and make up. If you haven’t seen someone in awhile, call them now to set up a date.
2. Am I pursuing my dream or is fear stopping me? What have you always wanted to do? Maybe something you dreamed of as a child but gave up as unrealistic? Maybe something you still want to do but are afraid of failing? What fears are stopping you? What would be the worst that could happen if you overcame those fears and pursued your dream?
If you’re already pursuing your dream, pat yourself on the back!
 |
| Albert Einstein showed he understood the Tantric nature when he said, “Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.” |
3. Am I doing something that matters? There’s a difference between doing work, and doing work that really matters. Often, we use up the short time have on this earth with busy stuff that makes no difference, which is truly a sad waste of our lives.
Ask yourself, “Will any of this matter in five years?” This helps you distinguish between trivial busy work that will take up all of your time but won’t matter in a few years, and tasks and projects and goals with high impact that will make a difference, in your career, in your life, in the lives of others.
4. What am I doing to help others? Oddly, you get the most out of life not just by taking what you can for yourself, but by giving to others. What have you done lately to help others? Have you been kind to people? Have you been compassionate? Have you been there for anyone? Listened? Volunteered for those in need? If you’re not doing anything to help out, now is the time to figure out one thing you can do for someone, and put it into action. Ask this question on a regular basis, and make kindness a habit.
5. Am I as good a human being as I want to be? I ask this of myself daily. When I am impatient or selfish, I reflect on what I said and realize that I could have done better. Instead of berating myself, I try harder to allow my inner Tantric Goddess to guide me, to rise above life’s banalities to a higher plane.
It’s not easy to be good, not all of the time. It’s easier to be selfish, without thinking about it. Is that how you want to be remembered? Is that how you want to live your life? Give it some thought…act accordingly.
6. What am I doing to live with passion, health and energy? You can do all the right things, and yet live a DULL, meaningless life. If you ignore your health, you will have little energy and you will waste the precious minutes you have left on illness. Instead, learn to live a healthy life, with good foods and exercise. This will lead to more energy in your life. Then, direct that energy into something you are deeply passionate about. If you haven’t found that passion, start looking TODAY!

All about Tantric Virgins and Non-ejaculatory Orgasms |
| Published: 169 days ago [ submited by Dakini Bliss ] |
Vince is a “virgin”, or a newcomer to the erotic arts industry. He has never had a sensual massage before, let alone studied Tantra with a Dakini. He is a handsome, young East Indian businessman, and appears to be about my age with an educated west London accent.
A newbie like Vince has no idea what to do with the customary formalities in the beginning, so I narrate our whole exchange with a flight stewardess’ charm. Vince is nervous, which I think is becoming, blushing brilliantly when our eyes meet. He is not here with a raging hard on thinking that he might seduce me into intercourse during our session like some guys on their first time in. I believe Vince really has no idea what he is in store for, but I do sense his intentions to study the art of sacred loving is genuine. This lights me up.
I am honored to be his guide, to gently place his hands on my knees while we sit cross-legged together on the massage table. We have dialogue about my practice of Tantra and how he can incorporate this experience immediately into his life. Here I get to gently guide Vince into an embrace of which he nervously accepts, still not sure how he feels to suddenly be this close to a woman he just met. I always feel more open to sharing intimacy with clients when they do not just grab my breasts without asking permission. This gentleman was nervous to even hold my hand sitting here nearly naked, me in my lace g-string and he with a towel wrapped around his waist.
 |
| Once we drop into breathing together, cheek to cheek instead of eye to eye, he relaxes into it and starts feeling his sexual energy rise. Some men really freak out when they engage in direct eye contact. When I look into their soul, they have nowhere to hide. |
Now, Vince takes my guidance well, which allows me to explain about moving sexual energy with breath and having earth-shattering orgasms without ever spilling their seed. About an amazing 80% of the men who visit me for Tantra sessions have never even heard of non-ejaculatory orgasms.
Vince takes onto moving Tantric energy naturally. Once I get him face down on the table, he continues to breath through the entire massage. When my clients embrace the breath work I teach them at the beginning of the session, combined with my magical touch, eyes closed in their own world on the table, they move into a trance state. I could feel him dropping deeper and deeper into the energy, which inspires me to infuse more love and presence into my touch.
It reached the point where when I lightly brushed my fingers near his genital area he would naturally take a deep breath in and pull the energy up into his upper chakra centers, exhaling with ecstasy, without guidance. When he flipped him over, he was so tender and relaxed. He engaged my eyes as I continued to breathe audibly so he would follow my suggestive flow of energy. His eyes were brimming with awe.
I ask permission if I can touch his penis. Its time for the moment they all wait for. “Yes, I am ready.” His voice was so soft, so sweet, whispering as if he feared if he spoke any longer it would break the magic.
For a moment we were both holding our breath. The tension in the air was audible and excited. I climb down to the end of the table, in between the length of his legs, and bend over into devotion pose. I am bowing to his lingham, his holy wand of light, the staff of Shiva, his beautiful dark cock laying on his belly hidden under the foreskin. He looks like a God to me.
I take in a deep breath of reverence to the divine masculine, praying through this man on the table. And here comes my true gift. I surrender my energy into divine love, the kind of energy one would feel when totally in love with a special lover. A force outside myself comes through in these moments…pure divine grace, ecstasy, surrendering into bliss. I can feel the divine feminine goodess consciousness energy running through me. Its my spiritual practice.
There’s no other way to explain it. After being raised as a Protestant, I became a New Ager and am now a Tantric. I am now going to attempt to describe the indescribable here.
I am bowing down in between his legs and consciously radiating this life force energy into his being, charging him up. He is breathing this in, convulsing with delicious kundalini shivers. He gets it. He received the transmission. I am speaking in tongues at this point, the serpent language, channeling ancient prayers from times beyond time. The more he opens to the energy the stronger it gets. This is Tantra in action. Our hearts are open in ecstasy.
I move slowly and lay my hands ever so gently on his slightly limp cock. He was having full body orgasmic jolts simply laying there on the table and he wasn’t even hard. It wasn’t about the sex. Its about the fluid energy exchange. His cock felt divine in my hands as I was channeling reiki energy into his wand. It started to grow hard, pulsating in my hand.
Then something amazing happened. After working his lingham for nearly 5 minutes, this newbie had a full Tantric non-ejaculatory orgasm. He came without coming and still had a massive erection. Unfortunately, our time was about up. In special situations, where my client is making so much progress, and I enjoy their energy, I may prolong the session at no charge. But I have my second client coming in 20 minutes. This was a crucial moment. In 90 minutes Vince had reached a goal that most men take months working with me to attain. Yet he felt quite confused because he still thought like he needed to ejaculate.
I asked him to tune into his energy and take note of how his body felt in this moment. He said, “I feel totally pumped with vitality, awake, aware, empowered, tingly, intoxicated… and still horny.” He was ashamed by the last observation. This happens when you recirculate and retain the sexual chi that is normally lost during ejaculation. Instead of feeling drained, you feel pumped up. Sadly, men are deeply programmed that they must ejaculate to feel relieved at the end of a sexual encounter. Apparently, Vince could not face leaving our session with all his sexual chi intact. Embarrassed, he asked for a release.
I wanted to give him another chance to reconsider, explaining how he can transmute this energy and channel it into his work, his art, his relationships. My instant Tantric star student wants to throw his education away. I did not judge him for his decision to come before he left, I can well imagine what it feels like to walk around all day with an erection and unquenchable arousal. Honoring his request I proceeded to do the deed.
Within two minutes he ejaculated into my hand and we both witnessed his energy drain. But he was both relaxed and relieved. I could see a sadness in his eyes after he climaxed. I assured him that he did well and I would love to see him again, giving him the Temple password. Vince is now officially initiated into the Sexual Sanctuary of Tantric Touch. He expressed his deep gratitude for my time and energy on his way out the door.

So, What Exactly is TANTRA? |
| Published: 169 days ago [ submited by Dakini Bliss ] |
What is Tantra?
Try to blithely define Tantra and you will soon make yourself a liar.

- A tantra may be a spiritual practice for achieving “expansion to liberation.” It may be a ritual or a meditation.
- A tantra may be any practice of material transformation or spiritual alchemy.
- A tantra may be a mundane practice of magic, a talisman, or a totem, used for wealth, power, domination, or protection or soothsaying.
- It may be a scripture or treatise enumerating any of the above types of tantric practice, dating from 500 AD to the present.
- A tantra may be a strictly oral teaching of either mundane or spiritual practice. Many of these oral teachings date back thousands of years, reflected by sculpture, pottery, friezes, paintings, and ritual implements from as far back as 7000BC
- Tantric practice may be highly ornate, with much external ritual paraphernalia, or it may be completely inside the mind, internalized as a visualization or awareness beginning with a specific focus.
- Some tantra does involve the use of “forbidden” substances…alcohol, flesh, intoxicants but these are used within the context of specific practices, and are not excuses for debauchery.
- Some tantra involves the use of mantra (sound resonance) and yantra (visual resonance), but not all.
- Some tantric schools view existence as “duality” (“I and Thou”) others as “non-duality” (“i am that i am”). Some are polytheistic, some are monotheistic, some are not theistic. Some tantric teachers (teachers ofSamaya Tantra) believe there is no sex in real tantra. Some tantric teachers believe tantra is only about sex.
Neither group is right.
Most tantra works with “sexual” energy, but this may be on the macrocosmic level of natural, universal forces of creation and destruction, or on the interpersonal level of human sexuality (whether physical sex, or visualized “divine” intercourse), or even on the microcosmic level of the polar (male/female, solar/lunar, yang/yin) forces within the individual human body. In the most powerful practices, tantra may be all of the above.
There are practices developed only in the last 40 years, classified as “Neo-Tantra”, “Modern Tantra” or “New-Age Tantra”. Some make valuable contributions, in that they can improve physical and emotional health through loving sexuality, but they lack many of the higher spiritual benefits of traditional tantric practices, and in some ways further obscure the power and meaning of these traditional practices. Tantra has many millenia of history of this sort of obscuration, so dilution and syncretism are not new.
Any one of the above characterizations of tantra, taken individually, is only partly true

Solitude vs. Loneliness…The Tantric Choice |
| Published: 171 days ago [ submited by Dakini Bliss ] |
Loneliness is marked by a sense of isolation. SOLITUDE on the other hand, is a state of being alone without being lonely and can lead to self-awareness.
 |
As the world spins faster and faster, human beings need more ways to cope with the resulting pressures. We need to maintain our balance and a sense that we are steering the ship of our life.
|
|
Or else, we feel overloaded, overreact to minor annoyances and feel like we can never catch up. The best way is by seeking solitude.
A world of difference exists between solitude and loneliness, but the two terms are often used interchangeably.
At first blush, solitude and loneliness look a lot alike. Both are characterized by solitariness. But all resemblance ends at the surface.
Loneliness is a negative state, marked by a sense of isolation. One feels that something is missing. It is possible to be with people and still feel lonely—perhaps the most bitter form of loneliness.
Solitude is the state of being alone without being lonely… a positive, constructive state of engagement with oneself. Solitude is desirable, a state of being alone where you provide yourself wonderful and sufficient company.
Solitude is a time that can be used for reflection, inner searching or growth or enjoyment of some kind. Deep reading requires solitude, so does experiencing the beauty of nature. Thinking and creativity usually do too.
Solitude suggests peacefulness stemming from a state of inner richness. It is a way to enjoy the quiet and whatever it brings that is satisfying and from which we draw sustenance. It is something we cultivate. Solitude refreshes, offering us an opportunity to renew ourselves. In other words, it replenishes us….in body, mind and spirit.
Loneliness is harsh, punishment, a deficiency state, a state of discontent marked by a sense of estrangement, an awareness of excess aloneness.
Solitude is something you choose. Loneliness is imposed on you by others.
We all need periods of solitude, although we probably differ in the amount of solitude we need. Some solitude is essential; It gives us time to explore and know ourselves. It is the necessary counterpoint to intimacy, what allows us to have a self worthy of sharing. Solitude gives us a chance to regain perspective. It renews us for the challenges of life. It allows us to get (back) into the position of driving our own lives, rather than having them run by schedules and demands from without.
SOLITUDE restores body and mind while lonelinesss depletes them.
